The more I work with ‘photo-apped’ photos, the more I find that they seem to ‘tell a story’ better than photos served up straight and unapped.
Maybe that’s because I used to design book covers, and when I look at an apped photos I think, “Oh, that would be perfect for a book on such ‘n such.”
Here are some ‘apped’ photos that I think would work on book covers about South-East Asia, specifically Myanmar and Vietnam.

Fishermen on Inle Lake in Myanmar.
This particular image isn’t photo-apped but I found the enigmatic expression of the grey man who appeared at the edge of this photo to tell a story all on its own (Vietnam).
