Philodendrons remind me of snakes, the sinuous way they slither through the jungle winding their way up trees.
And, at this year’s Chinese New Year Parade, I discovered that they also remind me of dragons. I rushed home and did some sketches of my Arrowhead Philodendron. Now I’ve finally got around to combining these watercolour sketches with the Dragon Dancers using Photoshop’s ‘Blend’ modes.
This particular sketch seemed to only capture either the philodendron…
Or the Dragon Dancers, but not both, and the only ‘blend’ mode that produced anything was ‘Hard Mix’.
This sketch worked out better in various ‘Blend’ modes…
Basically all ‘Blend’ modes except ‘Hard Mix’.
My favourite: ‘Hue’. Lots of electricity and the dragon’s head is quite visible. Less visible, but important, is the sketchy yellow dragon body that echoes the lines of the vine above.
