Peace Rose in my ex-garden. Vancouver is a bit too wet for most roses and this one eventually succumbed to various moulds. Then I discovered old-fashioned roses. They seem immune to mould and the fragrance is what all roses should smell like! I often grabbed anyone that passed by and forced them to have a sniff of this fragrant Gertrude Jekyll rose. They all went into raptures!
Wild roses on the shores of Denmark, also fragrant.

Burlap bag of rose to sprinkle on tombs in India. It appears they only grow fragrant roses in India – who wants a rose that doesn’t smell as sweet…
Wild rose in my ex-garden. Something else that seemed to be more immune to mould.
And now for some rose art. This is what I call the ‘Rose Room’ at the Portland Art Museum in Oregon.
